The new model goes the same route as Retrobuilt’s previous cars, except this time the exterior is based on the design of the 1969 Shelby GT500. In fact, the company has even gone so far as to score a licensing deal with Shelby so that they can use the name.
A donor car is needed, which can be any 2005 to current Mustang Convertible. That means you can use anything from an older Mustang to V6 to the current 5.0-liter Mustang GT. Theoretically you could also use a Shelby GT500, but we can’t imagine many customers dissecting Ford’s flagship Mustang.

Looks poorly executed and makes a mockery of the Shelby cars.

This car is interesting and I love the iconic '69 Shelby styling. I agree with 'burg on the quality as some of the panel fit and cosmetics of the car are sketchy and there is too much sheet metal from the beltline down to the rear wheel opening for me, but I like the car. Section out a pie shape from the front fender's back to the rear end and remove some of the 'Weight' from the quarter panels and this car rocks.
[/i]I never knew how well grabber blue looks with '69 styling. Great color Ford. I rank that beautiful color right up there with Petty blue.

Ewww. That's ugly.

I want to like it and I am trying to just on principal, but I have to begrudgingly agree with The 'Burg to some degree.
Some times it just doesn't pay to mess with history.
